Welcome to the Debate section of the website, dedicated to employing the mind to derail the opponet's arguments. Here you will find some sections that are free, including tips and tricks, and other that are password locked, comprised of personal files that only the IP and password holder can access.

Here you will find many tips for choosing, cutting, and tagging cards that you will use during the debate round. There is also a video included for novice debaters to make sure that they include the background of the sources. This technique, once elavated to the next level, forms the basis of the evidence finding and formating cards for your next debate round.

Although initially confusing and complex, the world of debate does not have much lingo to it that is too complicated to master within a few days of regular usage. Using it at tournaments with other students there shows dedication and overall smarts and love for the game of debate. Using the lingo will help you comprehend the language used inside of a debate round as well as developing a connection with the judge by speaking their language.

Lincoln Douglas, is a one on one debate which has a heavy emphasis on Logic, Morals, and Values. It is named after the famous debates between Stephen Douglas and Abraham Lincoln. LD has two distinct types of debaters, the traditional debaters which still focus on Values and Morals, and the Progressive debaters, who use a hybrid Policy/LD format. LD resolutions switch every 2 months, and there are 4 topics each year for the regular season.

Flowing, the note taking of debate. Welcome to a new form of hand cramps as you frantically take down notes so full of abreviations that to any normal person off of the street, it would look like chicken scratch. Use these skills to be better at taking notes during the round to make sure that you dont drop your's or their arguments.

Stock Issues, the meat of the debate. These little sentences will make or break your case if done correctly or incorrectly. They are the focus point of Cross Examination and will be used frequently to back up your claims during the round that you are in. Make sure that you have these down pat to avoid any fatal mistakes.

Kritiks, a German word for critique, are a theorhetical debate tool used in LD and policy debate consisting of many different ideals. These can be used by both sides during the match of the round, such a kritiking a kritik, and are sometimes vital to a match.

Topicality, more than just the definitions that it is normally assumed under, is a vital tool in the average debate round, as teams to assess the other team's T very carefully, as it can cost them the match. Open this page and learn all about T and the NonT arguments present in debate.

Spreading, not on the sea floor but in a debate, is a technique that allows the team to get more information out faster during the short time frame of a debate. It is a harder skill to master and require much personal practice to perfect. This skill, when used correctly, will serve you well in a debate round.
